Artemis A.W. Joukowsky, III, M.A. is a private investor who has acted as a venture capitalist, asset advisor, entrepreneur, non-profit activist and film producer for the past 25 years in his professional life. He has formed ten for-profit and eight non-for profit institutions and has been a founding partner in two venture capital funds. He has been a part of four companies that have gone public. Investment and Business Activities: Until 2007, Mr. Joukowsky was a Senior Advisor and Vice-Chairman of Econergy International, a diversified international energy services company, focused on the clean energy markets. After going public in 2006, Econergy was sold to GDF Suez Energy International. He also co-founded Highland Energy Group. Now EUA/Highland, it is a subsidiary of the $50 million Eastern Utilities Association, a $2 billion New York stock exchange company. He was a partner of Enterprise Design of Pataluma, CA, a firm that works closely with executives to design competitive enterprises. He and his partner, Robert Dunham, focus on leveraging the capabilities of executives and managers, the coordination of action and an organization’s capacity for design. In 1997, he was a co-founder of Solstice Capital, a $85 million dollar early stage venture fund. An Advisor for Solstice from 1995 to the present, he is also an Advisor to Utah Ventures II, an $200 million dollar fund based in Salt Lake City, Utah and Commons Capital, a socially responsible early stage venture fund in Boston. Community and Disabilities Activism:
Mr. Joukowsky has been active in disability and other community services for a number of years. His experience and roles include: He is the Executive Producer of a documentary film about his grandparents, Waitstill and Martha Sharp, who played a significant role in the relief and rescue of displaced and endangered World War II refugees, including many Jews, to be completed in August 2010. The Journey to Freedom Education Project, encompasses the film, a companion book co-written by Mr. Joukowsky, a educational curriculum being developed with Facing History and Ourselves as well as an extensive Archive of Sharp documents and research website.  www.journeytofreedomfilm.com He is also a Producer of Carbon Nation, a film about solutions to the global warming crisis. http://web.mac.com/peterbyck/iWeb/carbon_nation/carbon_nation.html He is the Chairman and co-founder of No-Limits Media, a non-profit corporation whose goal is the development of innovative media projects for people with disabilities. No Limits created a 1\2 hour TV “Magazine†program that was broadcast on ABC in the spring of 2005. www.nolimitsmedia.org He is the Executive Producer and co-author of Raising the Bar, a book published by Umbrage Press. He co-wrote the essay with Larry Rothstein. In addition, he is writing a new book, tentatively called The Gift. He is the founder and organizer of Raising the Bar Associates, LLC, which was created to work with major international corporations to support the UN Convention on Human Rights, which was passed in 2008. Raising the Bar Associates, LLC hosted a public photo exhibit of the book’s images in the main hall of the UN from March 12 to April 2 and again in July of 2005 to support the Convention. In addition, RTBLLC presented the book to each ambassador and head of state at the same time that UN Secretary General Kofi Annan presented the FDR International Disability Award to King Abdullah of Jordon. http://www.raisingthebarassoc.com He is the Chairman and founding Board member of the Lemelson Assistive Technology Development Center at Hampshire College, an academic program that supports student invention and design of adaptive equipment. He was a member of the United States Paralympic Team 2002-2004, he competed in the US and abroad. He won the National Championships in table tennis (2002) for class 6 and won the Silver medal in the Mexico City Games (2003). He is a member of the Finance Committee and a Program Officer for the Joukowsky Family Foundation. He is co-founder of a number of non-profit organizations and socially responsible investment networks, including the Investor Circle (with Susan Davis). He was a founding participant of the Social Venture Network and he helped to found the Vermont Community Loan Fund, The Natick Montessori School and Food Works.
